ABOUT PRODUCTID 31139
The Togo corner sofa module, designed by Michel Ducaroy for Ligne Roset, was produced in France at the turn of the 1970s and 1980s. This element of the iconic Togo line is distinguished by its organic silhouette, constructed entirely from molded foam with no visible legs or frame, and upholstered in a warm, light beige synthetic fabric with a subtle yellow undertone. Distinctive horizontal and vertical tufting creates deep ruching and seams, giving the piece its recognizable informal shape and sculptural softness. The seat is draped with a fluffy, cream faux fur throw, enhancing its tactile appeal and comfort. The upholstery shows discoloration, creasing, and staining, attesting to its originality; the preserved manufacturer's tag confirms authenticity. The structure remains stable, and the condition is rated as good, though the fabric requires replacement.
The Togo form tells the story of late 1970s France, when modernism sought new expressions of comfort and freedom. This seat abandons formality for soft, inviting shapes: the low seat invites relaxation, while the ruching and tufting evoke the carefree spirit of an era that celebrated informality. The beige fabric, marked by years of use, suggests domestic warmth and openness—it's as if the corner module quietly whispers, “Rest here, where only comfort matters.”
