ABOUT PRODUCTID 5091
This large crystal pitcher for cold beverages, dating from the early 1920s, exemplifies the craftsmanship of Belgium’s D.B.E. workshops. The body is made of thick, clear crystal glass with a subtly warm tone; vertical, softly rounded fluting lends a gentle rhythm, while the polished surface enhances the clarity and brilliance of the material. The base is cut and polished for stability and a refined appearance. The upper section is adorned with robust silver-plated brass mounts: a wide, functional spout, a hinged lid, and a large, elegantly curved handle, all with a hammered texture and decorative beading. Inside, a removable glass insert allows drinks to be chilled without dilution. The manufacturer’s signature appears beneath the handle, confirming its authenticity. The pitcher is preserved in very good condition, with minor age-related patina on the metal elements, and no damage to the glass. The form of this pitcher blends the organic lines of late Art Nouveau with the geometric discipline of early Art Deco—evoking the atmosphere of interwar salons and refined gatherings. The smooth crystal surface captures and reflects the light, while the subtly aged silver mount tells of occasions where chilled beverages were served with a sense of ceremony and attention to detail. The ice insert hints at a time when everyday rituals were elevated, and the vessel itself becomes a silent witness to an era when household glassware signified both status and taste. This pitcher may be displayed on an oak tray alongside simple-form tumblers or paired with a period decanter to create a cohesive arrangement on a sideboard or drinks trolley. In interior settings, it will harmonize with Art Deco-inspired spaces, but may also be combined with modern, minimalist
