ABOUT PRODUCTID 19386
The 'Krokus' coffee cup and saucer, designed by Wincenty Potacki for the Ćmielów porcelain factory in the 1960s, is a study in mid-century modern precision and restraint. It features a tall, gently flared silhouette rendered in translucent, perfectly smooth porcelain. A matte, powdery blue glaze covers the entire cup and saucer except for the saucer's recessed center, which remains a glossy, pure white—offering a quiet visual counterpoint. Ornaments include gold grid-like dots, evenly spaced on both pieces, and thin gold bands highlighting the rim of the cup, the saucer, and the elegant handle. The form rises delicately before tapering into a balanced, ergonomic handle with a gilded accent. The construction is meticulous, the porcelain thin-walled and free from visible manufacturing faults, and the gold details are finely applied. There are no chips, cracks, or signs of wear, and the decoration remains complete and crisp. The set is preserved in very good condition, with all elements attesting to the standards of Polish 1960s design and craftsmanship. This ensemble carries the discreet voice of post-war modernism—an interplay of serene form, clarity of color, and emphasis on refined detail. The cup embodies mid-century optimism: the golden dots evoke a distant sense of harmony, while its blue hue recalls the gentle light of an early summer morning through glass
