The original circus poster 'Cyrk – Lion with a Crown' is a 1975 design by Hubert Hilscher, created at the height of the Polish School of Poster Art. Produced in large B1 format (70 × 100 cm) using offset printing, the composition centers on a stylized lion depicted as a king, seated on an ornate golden throne with almost baroque decorative details. The lion’s face, exaggerated and theatrical, appears in an intense, cool blue, contrasting with a voluminous, painterly white mane and a gold crown adorned with green and red gemstones. The background is a deep, saturated magenta, framed by black edges, while the lion’s robe is decorated with intricate red and green patterns. The poster is in excellent condition—no visible damage or discoloration, with a smooth surface and vibrant, unfaded colors. This work is a visual manifesto of its era: the 1970s in Poland were a time of bold graphic experimentation, symbolism, and grotesque humor championed by the leading artists of the poster school. The crowned lion, rendered with theatrical exaggeration yet regal presence, invites the viewer into a world where imagination meets absurdity, and the circus motif becomes an allegory for social roles and masquerades. The intensity of color and decorative form echo a period marked by contrast, artistic freedom, and an ironic distance from reality. The poster can be paired with minimalist furniture or raw concrete to emphasize its graphic impact. It would work well in modern lofts or eclectic collectors’ interiors; it could be combined with other pieces of Polish graphic art or 1970s posters. Alternatively, it can be hung solo on a plain
