The original 'Circus Monkeys' poster by Maciej Urbaniec from 1966 is a representative example of the Polish School of Poster Art and the artist's mature style. The composition depicts two chimpanzees seated side by side in a gesture of friendship—one with its arm around the other, both sharing broad, human-like smiles. The figures are dressed in circus costumes: a dark jacket with red buttons and a white shirt with a red bow tie, while the lower sections dissolve into expressive, abstract color patches—cobalt blue, olive green, and intense red. The background is snow-white and matte, lending the composition a sense of lightness. The upper part of the poster features a rhythmic, vertical arrangement of four 'CYRK' inscriptions, three in sand-gold and one centrally in vivid red, underlined by a white rectangle bordered by two thin golden lines. Visible are dynamic, spontaneous brushstrokes and the graphic signature 'URBANIEC' on the left.
