ABOUT PRODUCTID 41035
This late 19th-century Viennese cabinet bronze is a miniature solid bronze sculpture depicting a dachshund in a distinctive semi-seated pose. Crafted using traditional casting and cold painting techniques of the renowned Wiener Bronzen school, the figurine features warm, golden-brown tones accented by subtle, darker shades of brown and black around the muzzle, ears, and paws. The surface presents a satin to semi-matte finish, with gentle highlights that emphasize the contours and musculature of the dog. The proportions remain true to the breed: an elongated body, short legs, and a slightly curved tail. The sculpture is cast as a single, monolithic piece, with no added decorative elements or fittings. Its antique character is underscored by a natural age patina and light surface wear on protruding areas. The condition is very good, with only minor, age-consistent traces and a noble patina that attests to its authenticity. This miniature tells the story of fin de siècle Vienna – an era when cabinet bronzes captured everyday moments and animals with remarkable precision. The dachshund, poised in a semi-seated posture, seems to await attention, evoking the refined atmosphere of parlors and studies where such objects served both decorative and sentimental roles. Light plays gently on its smooth, subtly darkened surface, revealing softness in the modeled form, as if the figurine were a small talisman – a personal guardian of stories about loyalty and domestic warmth. The figurine is well suited for display on a classic writing desk, in a collector's vitrine, or on a living room shelf – especially among leather-bound books, small curios, or period porcelain. It may be paired with
