This late 19th-century French decanter is crafted from transparent crystal with a cool, slightly bluish hue, expressing a distinctly classical character. The construction features a cylindrical shaft that flows smoothly into gently sloped shoulders and a tall, faceted neck. The body is adorned with regular vertical fluting, lending the piece a rhythmic structure and visual lightness. Silver fittings—a wide band at the base, a collar at the neck, and the top of the robust stopper—have a satin-matte finish and are delicately engraved with geometric and botanical motifs. The transitions between glass and silver are precise, and the fittings are securely set. French silver hallmarks, including the Minerva head, confirm the authenticity of the piece. The condition is very good—only subtle scratches and a natural patina on the silver are visible, with no damage to the crystal.The decanter tells a story of an era when the art of the table was a daily ritual and every detail spoke of cultivated elegance.
