ABOUT PRODUCTID 3618
This decanter, designed in 1942 by Sigfried Haertl for the Józefina glassworks in Szklarska Poręba, is crafted from layered lead crystal, combining a saturated indigo hue with clear glass. The bulbous body is adorned with a wide, galvanised silver overlay (purity 1000/1000) cut in a stylised botanical motif, drawing inspiration from Vienna Workshop patterns and the geometric tendencies of Professor Haertl. The decanter features a robust, ribbed clear glass handle and a faceted stopper that echoes the vessel’s colour palette and angular cuts. Its glossy surface and precisely executed planar facets accentuate the meticulous craftsmanship, while the proportions blend Art Deco and late Secession influences. The condition is excellent: no chips, cracks, or visible signs of wear. The decanter speaks in the voice of a transitional era—its form and details reflect a moment when the geometric discipline of modernism intertwined with the decorative flair of silver inlay. The indigo blue, deep and cool, fades into transparent crystal at the base, as if mindful of the passage of time; the silver ornament wraps the vessel like a story of bygone salons.
