ABOUT PRODUCTID 1551
This early 20th-century decanter, made in Birmingham during the Edwardian era, exemplifies refined English craftsmanship. The body, crafted from clear, high-grade crystal, takes the form of a conical vessel widening towards the base, with a starburst (rosette) cut pattern on the underside—visible through the transparent glass. The elegantly curved handle, seamlessly joined to the body, is fashioned from the same crystal, while the neck transitions into a sterling silver (925) collar and hinged lid, hallmarked with the silversmith’s initials K & H. Details such as the small thumbpiece on the lid and the precise meeting of glass and silver highlight the object’s functional intentions and understated character. At 12 cm high and 7 cm in diameter, the decanter is designed for serving syrups, juices, or liqueurs. The condition is very good: no visible chips, cracks, or restoration marks, with only minor age-related surface scratches present. The decanter evokes an era when table rituals shaped the rhythm of daily life: the cool clarity of crystal reflects alongside the polished silver mount, while the delicate rosette cut on the base hints at Edwardian England’s penchant for subtle yet deliberate ornament. This vessel quietly narrates a story of restraint and attention
