This collectible decanter stopper from the late 19th to early 20th century is a refined example of neoclassical design, combining silver-plated metal with a cool, lightly patinated surface and a warm, natural beige cork. The finely detailed figure of Hermes—the messenger of the gods and patron of travelers and merchants—features realistic proportions and classical drapery, typical of decorative objects from the fin de siècle era. A precisely fitted metal collar with a delicate beaded edge joins the metal to the cork, highlighting the high level of craftsmanship characteristic of the period. The overall geometry is cylindrical, with a subtly flared top.
