This decorative basket by IMPREX, crafted in West Germany during the 1970s, is a striking example of vintage craftsmanship from Wiesbaden. The body is made of thick, embossed leather in a deep, warm brown shade with a matte finish and a subtle natural sheen. Its surface is richly adorned with Aztec- and pre-Columbian-inspired motifs: stylized figures, animals, and symbols arranged in a continuous frieze. Both the upper and lower rims are bordered with a repeating Greek key pattern, lending a structured graphic accent. The leather displays a fine, grainy texture, and visible hand-tooling marks emphasize the artisanal quality of the piece. The basket’s conical form widens towards the top and features a single, sturdy black metal handle on the side, with contrasting light stitching at the base for reinforcement.
