ABOUT PRODUCTID 1965
This multicolored Mandruzzato Murano centerpiece bowl dates from the 1950s and is crafted from layered crystal glass using the renowned 'sommerso' (sun technique) attributed to Flavio Poli. The organic, heart-like form is defined by flowing, soft lines and thick, substantial walls typical of mid-century Murano design. The principal hue is a deep amethyst purple, gradually fading to clear glass at the edges and accented by subtle blue tones, especially evident when viewed against the light. The high-gloss, polished surface enhances the interplay of color and light, with the inner layer appearing more saturated and the outer one more translucent. The base is flat and polished, with no visible maker’s marks. The piece remains in excellent condition, showing no signs of wear or damage. This object channels the spirit of 1950s Italian modernism, expressing the era through masterful craftsmanship and bold, organic contours. It could well narrate the story of Murano’s glassmaking golden age—a time when the island was a creative laboratory for form and color, each glass layer capturing the dance of light. The bowl reflects the elegance of the southern sun; its interwoven colors evoke a moment of stillness, as if time itself pauses to appreciate the depth and finesse of the material. The bowl may be displayed on a wooden console or sideboard in the living room, where natural light will highlight the color
