ABOUT PRODUCTID 24263
The 'Kora' decorative plate, designed by Elżbieta Piwek-Białoborska and produced by the Włocławek Faience Factory in the 1960s, is a prime example of Polish mid-century modern ceramics. Made of glazed, hand-painted faience, it features an abstract geometric pattern rendered in warm, caramel brown with accents of fresh green, pastel yellow, and cool light blue outlines. The glossy, high-shine surface enhances the vibrancy of the colors, while visible brushstrokes lend a dynamic, artisanal quality. The plate is shallow and round with gently sloping edges (24 cm in diameter, 4 cm in height). The item is in very good condition, with no visible chips, cracks, or signs of restoration. This plate channels the spirit of the 1960s, a period when Polish ceramics engaged in a vibrant dialogue with modernity. Its hand-painted, freeform motifs evoke the spontaneity of open-air sketching—each circle and line a trace of artistic freedom, echoing the painterly experiments of the era. The glazed, glassy surface captures and reflects light like water, while the color palette introduces a subtle rhythm inspired by nature. The piece narrates a story of bold yet approachable design, grounded in everyday beauty. For interior arrangements, the plate can serve as a focal point on a coffee table in the living room or as an accent on a dining room console. It pairs well with other period ceramics or with simple, geometric wooden furniture to emphasize its vintage character. The piece works equally well in mid-century modern settings or more eclectic, collector-oriented interiors; it may be combined with muted textiles or minimalist glass to highlight the organic pattern and distinctly Polish design identity.
