ABOUT PRODUCTID 33567
This large decorative plate from Japan, created at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, exemplifies the craftsmanship of the Meiji era. Made of porcelain, it features a finely hand-painted scene depicting a geisha in a traditional embroidered kimono. The dominant color is a warm, slightly creamy white with subtle beige tones, giving the surface a gently aged, soft character. The central figure is surrounded by intricate floral motifs and a decorative fan, with accents of black, vivid orange-red, muted green, gold, and blue. The glossy, glazed surface enhances the vibrancy of the colors and provides a smooth, pleasant-to-the-touch texture. The rim of the plate is plain, free from additional ornamentation, while the overall composition is asymmetrical—typical of Japanese aesthetics from this era. The artistry is evident in the detailed brushwork and delicate color transitions. The plate is preserved in very good condition, with only minor signs of use and subtle discoloration typical for porcelain from the late 19th century. No cracks, chips, or repairs are present.
