ABOUT PRODUCTID 4482
This decorative plate from Pruszków, produced in the 1960s, is crafted from porcelite and finished with a combination of glossy and matte glazes. The dominant hue is a deep, cool navy blue, covering the rim and forming a geometric pattern at the center. The background features a light, slightly bluish-gray matte surface that contrasts with the dark, glossy blue elements of the design. The decoration is distinctly mid-century modern: abstract geometric forms arranged in a vertical, symmetrical composition, with irregular rectangles and trapezoids intersected by a central vertical line. Some segments are filled with delicate crosshatch and linear textures, adding visual depth and rhythm. Subtle, concentric incised lines radiate from the center, enhancing the modernist aesthetic. The construction is precise, with clean edges and an even application of glaze. The reverse bears the stamp of Zakłady Porcelitu Stołowego "Pruszków". The plate is preserved in very good condition, with no signs of wear, damage, or restoration. The plate’s motif echoes the spirit of Polish modernism in the 1960s, when geometric forms and restrained colors signaled a quest for contemporary identity. Navy bands and abstract, rhythmic segments seem to narrate an era when applied arts boldly experimented with composition and texture. The cool sheen of the glaze catches the light, while the matte background absorbs it, creating a subtle interplay between dynamism and calm—this plate speaks in the clear, considered language of its decade.
