This small decorative porcelain plate was produced in the 1960s by Royal Copenhagen, the renowned Danish manufactory. The plate features a distinctive squared form with strongly rounded edges and a subtly convex profile, with an elegantly beveled rim. Its glossy, meticulously glazed surface is hand-painted with a central depiction of a finch rendered in a realistic, pastel palette—an ochre-rust breast, blue-grey head and wings, black and white feather details, and a discreet blush accent on the cheek. The bird perches on a delicate branch with catkin-like olive and brown buds, while the background gently transitions from creamy white at the rim, through soft blue, to a deeper blue at the base. These color gradients, resembling watercolor washes, emphasize the softness and harmony of the composition. The reverse bears the manufacturer’s signature.
