This antique Chinese vessel from the 19th century is crafted using the traditional cloisonné enamel technique, where intricate compartments formed by fine metal strips are filled with colored enamel and kiln-fired, resulting in saturated, characteristic patterns. The primary background is a glossy, deep black, serving as a canvas for the central motif: a vivid yellow dragon encircling the bowl’s body. The dragon’s scales are meticulously outlined, with a prominent red along its backbone and accents of turquoise and green on the limbs, beard, and head. The composition is enlivened by swirling clouds in turquoise and black with subtle golden outlines. The rim and small foot are finished in bronze or brass with a tasteful, aged patina and refined traces of its era, characteristic for late Qing dynasty decorative arts.
