This late 19th-century Viennese desk bell push, attributed to the Bergman foundry, exemplifies the artistry of Austrian bronze from the era. Crafted from finely chiseled and partially gilded bronze, it features a miniature dachshund rendered in a naturalistic, realistic style, with distinct fur texture, collar detail, and a slightly raised muzzle. The oval base is decorated with a hammered surface and a raised border; an ivory-colored push button is centrally placed in front of the dog, and an opening in the base allows for the passage of an electrical wire. The main hue is a warm, antique gold with muted, aged patina, especially in the sculpture’s recesses and along the edges. The piece is in very good condition, showing only minor abrasions and a soft patina consistent with authentic late 19th-century use; all components appear original, unrestored.This miniature sculpture echoes the refined spirit of late 19th-century Viennese salons—a time when everyday objects were elevated to the status of small works of art.
