This WMF desk box from the early 20th century exemplifies Art Nouveau craftsmanship, combining transparent, cut crystal with a silver-plated pewter lid. The rectangular body is crafted from thick, highly polished glass with sharply defined facets and smooth, glossy surfaces. The pewter lid has a cool, subtly matte sheen and is crowned at its center with a realistic relief of a pointer's head in profile, set within an oval medallion. Flowing, organic lines and softly rounded corners frame the lid, emphasizing the Art Nouveau influence. Dimensions: 15 cm length, 12 cm width, 7.4 cm height. The box is signed by WMF. Condition is very good – the crystal shows no damage, metal fittings retain their original patina, and only gentle scratches and natural wear typical for antiques are present.The box speaks in the voice of the fin de siècle, when utilitarian objects were elevated to small works of art. The relief of the dog evokes the atmosphere of refined offices and salons, where every detail signaled the owner’s taste and status.
