ABOUT PRODUCTID 5143
Designed by Svend Age Madsen in Denmark during the 1960s, this desk exemplifies the refined mid-century modern idiom, where materials and balanced proportions define a lasting sense of harmony. The structure combines a solid teak frame with a veneered top, highlighting the natural wood grain in a warm, medium brown with subtle reddish undertones. The front features five drawers with sculpted, integrated handles that flow seamlessly into the desk's aerodynamic outline. Slightly splayed and tapered legs merge with the frame, lending both lightness and stability, while a practical, adjustable shelf at the back allows for the display of books or decorative objects. The generous proportions – a wide top (156 cm), depth (76 cm), and ample legroom – ensure a comfortable workspace. Condition is very good: the surface has been refreshed, with only minimal wear and discreetly filled veneer chips visible upon close inspection. This desk reflects the spirit of the Nordic design movement at the turn of the 1950s and 60s, when utility and natural materials were held in the highest regard. Its flowing lines, organic details, subtly rounded edges, and visible teak grain evoke a time when everyday objects were crafted to serve, yet never at the expense of form. The piece
