ABOUT PRODUCTID 36753
Designed by Heinz George Pfaender for Hillebrand in the 1960s, this desk lamp is a striking example of German modernism inspired by Bauhaus principles and touched by subtle Art Deco influences. The broad, dome-shaped metal shade features a deep, muted brown with a greenish undertone, finished in a matte, subtly textured lacquer. The shade is paired with a highly polished chrome stem and circular base, creating a vivid contrast between matte and gloss. The lamp’s proportions accentuate its geometric clarity: a wide, low shade and a sturdy, round base form a cohesive, ornament-free silhouette. The on/off switch is discreetly integrated into the base as a small, chrome button. The shade can be adjusted and rotated for directional lighting, while the construction accommodates two large E27 light bulbs. Every detail reflects careful craftsmanship and attention to quality. The lamp is preserved in very good vintage condition, showing only slight patina and minor surface marks—normal signs of gentle, age-appropriate use; all elements appear original and the piece has been refreshed and is technically sound. This object carries the voice of the 1960s—a period when functionality merged with bold formal gestures and light became a tool for shaping new spatial order. The chrome surfaces reflect their surroundings like a tranquil pool, while the matte shade
