ABOUT PRODUCTID 9677
The Model 70 desk, designed by Kai Kristiansen for Danish manufacturer Feldballes Møbelfabrik in the mid-1960s, is crafted from teak wood in a warm, medium-brown tone with a subtle reddish hue. Its construction features two distinctive drawer modules: a deep file drawer with a lock and sculpted horizontal handle on the left, and three drawers with beveled integrated handles and a lock on the top drawer on the right. The front of the desk includes two additional lockable cabinets. The desk stands on sled-style legs that taper elegantly toward the floor, creating a visually light silhouette. The high standard of craftsmanship is evident in precise joinery, harmonious proportions, and a semi-matte lacquer finish that highlights the natural grain of the wood. The desk has undergone professional restoration and is preserved in excellent condition, with no visible signs of wear, damage, or discoloration. The form of this desk echoes an era when functionality was balanced by understated sophistication. The sled legs and carefully shaped handles reflect the essence of Danish modernism—respect for material, pursuit of order, and harmony in everyday objects. The teak surface, smooth and even, conjures images of a 1960s studio bathed in natural light and tranquility, where every detail is purposeful and considered. The Model 70 desk can be integrated into an office, spacious living room, or library, serving as both a practical workspace and a striking collector’s piece. It would pair well with other mid-century modern furnishings, such as teak bookcases or upholstered chairs with clean lines. A minimalist desk lamp, ceramic accents, or 1960s-inspired artwork could be added to emphasize the calm, organized spirit of the space. In an eclectic interior, it might serve as a counterpoint to contemporary forms and refined textiles.
