ABOUT PRODUCTID 3235
This crystal dish cover, crafted in 1942 at the Józefina glassworks in Szklarska Poręba and designed by Sigfried Haertl, stands as a unique example of mid-20th-century glass craftsmanship. Made from layered lead crystal, it combines clear and deep indigo hues, resulting in a mirror-like sheen and dynamic light play across its surface. The dome features geometric, vertical facet cuts that emphasize its almost cubist, Art Deco-inspired form. The sculptural, faceted handle echoes these geometric lines, while the flat plate, 22 cm in diameter, complements the dome’s refined silhouette. The cover is preserved in excellent condition, with no visible signs of use, damage, or restoration. This piece carries the voice of the 1940s: refinement distilled into pure form, where geometric cuts and mirrored planes reflect a fascination with modernity and the cubist reinterpretation of everyday objects. The dish cover seems to whisper stories from an era when even serving a meal was an act of applied art. The depth of indigo and crystal clarity evoke elegant tables of the time, where light danced across faceted surfaces. The cover may be paired with minimalist tableware or classic silver cutlery, creating a dialogue between modernist cuts and traditional table settings. It would work well atop an oak or marble tabletop, enhancing the interplay of color and light. In a collector’s arrangement, it can be combined with other Art Deco pieces or simple geometric glass and ceramics, highlighting both its decorative and functional qualities. The cover measures 21 cm in height, with a diameter of 17 cm; the plate is 22 cm in diameter. It is crafted from
