ABOUT PRODUCTID 38306
This porcelain dish in the shape of a stylized leaf represents Polish modernist design from the 1960s, produced by the Chodzież Porcelain Factory. The color palette is based on a cool, medium gray with a glossy glaze that gives the piece a distinctly modern character. The surface is decorated with abstract, organic white lines, while the center features an oval, black-and-white graphic depicting the historic port granaries of Bydgoszcz—an element that adds both local identity and a historical accent. The form is fluid and asymmetrical, with one end gently pointed and the other softly rounded, highlighting the biomorphic quality of the design. The porcelain is smoothly glazed, free of cracks, chips or restoration marks, and the underside bears the factory mark: 'Chodzież, MADE IN POLAND.' The piece is preserved in very good condition, with all original elements intact. This dish tells the story of Polish modernism, a time when designers balanced experimental forms with a sense of place. The leaf shape and abstract lines evoke the spirit of the mid-century, when inspiration from nature merged with modern graphic sensibilities, and everyday objects became vehicles for artistic expression. The motif of the Bydgoszcz port is treated as a visual memory—filtered through the artistic lens of its era—allowing the dish to whisper of a city’s history and transformation. The dish can be placed as a standalone accent on a living room console or as part of a table arrangement in a mid-century dining space. It may be paired with simple ceramics or muted glassware to allow its graphic details and form to stand out. In interiors with a collector’s or eclectic character, the unique design will be emphasized; in minimalist settings, its lightness and modernity will be accentuated.
