ABOUT PRODUCTID 20197
This authentic Art Nouveau door knocker, crafted in Austria around 1900, exemplifies the refined metalwork of the Secessionist era. Made from solid, cast brass with a gold finish and meticulously hand-chased detailing, it presents a warm, rich golden hue with a satin, semi-gloss surface. The composition is defined by asymmetrical, organic lines: a sculptural central element reminiscent of an iris bud supports a substantial, ornamented ring, while the backplate is shaped with undulating, botanical forms. Stylized iris motifs and flowing contours are typical of the Art Nouveau vocabulary, where function and decoration fluidly merge. The knocker is marked Ges. Gesch. M. (registered design) and numbered 1581. It displays only minor traces of patina and minimal surface wear, which reinforce its authenticity. Its overall condition is very good, with all original elements intact and no evidence of modern repairs or replacements. The metallic timbre of this knocker evokes an era when every architectural detail was designed to narrate its own story. Soft light reflected from the gilded surface reveals the gentle waves of the Art Nouveau ornament and fanciful floral motifs, while the weight of solid brass recalls the permanence of objects crafted for generations. Iris motifs allude to themes of renewal and nobility,
