This Art Nouveau door knocker, dating from around 1900, was crafted in Austria from cast bronze, originally gilded. Its surface displays a warm, medium antique gold tone with a soft, satin aged sheen and natural patina that accentuates the relief details. The central shell motif is surrounded by flowing, organic lines and stylized plant forms characteristic of the Secessionist style, all symmetrically arranged on an ornate backplate with a heart-shaped lower section. The ornamental reliefs are precise, with visible casting marks and a solid, weighty construction. The underside bears a catalogue number. The knocker was designed both as a decorative and functional feature—lifting it often activated a doorbell mechanism. Dimensions: height 14 cm, width 8 cm.
