This late 19th-century egg cup, crafted by the Schiffers manufactory in Warsaw around 1890, exemplifies the naturalistic decorative approach characteristic of early Art Nouveau. Made of silver-plated brass, it displays a cool, silvery-grey tone with a subtly matte, aged finish and an even, gentle patina. The bowl takes the form of a cracked eggshell, with a jagged, irregular rim that realistically evokes a freshly broken egg, while its organic quality is further emphasized by detailed embossing. The stem, shaped as a chicken’s leg and foot with finely rendered scales and claws, rests on a round, textured base reminiscent of rough ground. The piece measures 8 cm in height and 4.6 cm in diameter. Its condition is very good, with only minor signs of use and a consistent patina that underscores its authenticity—there are no visible dents or evidence of modern restoration, and all elements appear original.
