ABOUT PRODUCTID 20125
This round, extendable table from Denmark, dating to the 1960s, is crafted from teak wood in a medium-brown shade with a subtle reddish undertone. The tabletop is smooth and semi-matte, featuring gently rounded solid edges and small wedge-shaped inlays along the rim—a subtle testament to the woodworking craftsmanship typical of mid-century Danish design. The table stands on a single, central pedestal splitting into four splayed supports, providing stability and allowing chairs to be comfortably arranged around it. Thanks to two extension leaves, the table can be expanded from 120 to 170 and 220 cm. There are no signs of wear, damage, or repairs—the piece is in restored condition, having undergone a comprehensive woodwork refurbishment, stripped of its old finish and sealed with a semi-matte lacquer. This table tells the story of the 1960s, when Scandinavian practicality met the pursuit of harmony between form and function. In its refined details—wedge inlays, softly contoured edges, and balanced proportions—there is a dialogue between craftsmanship and everyday life. The teak, with its pronounced grain and warm tone, evokes the atmosphere of home gatherings and the idea of a table that adapts to changing needs—from intimate breakfasts to larger celebrations. The table can be paired with simple wooden-framed chairs or upholstered seats in neutral tones, creating a cohesive mid-century modern dining or living space. It is worth introducing period ceramics or glassware as accents, as well as a low, minimalist pendant lamp. In a collector’s interior, the table would work well alongside a bookcase or terracotta planters, emphasizing its versatility and timeless nature.
