This bronze figure of a woman, crafted by Karl Loder around 1900 in Steffisburg, Switzerland, is a quintessential example of Art Nouveau sculpture. The piece is made from finely chiselled bronze, originally gilded, now presenting a warm, golden-brown patina with gentle satin highlights on the raised surfaces. The slender female figure is depicted in a long, naturalistically rendered gown, her hair arranged in an early 20th-century updo, and captured in a contemplative pose—one hand resting on her hip, the other raised to her chin. The irregular, textured base evokes natural ground. Over time, only minor abrasions and a slightly uneven patina are visible, with no significant damage; the artist's signature confirms authenticity.
