This French antique inkwell, dating to the 1890s, is crafted from cast metal in the Art Nouveau style. Its form takes inspiration from a knight’s helmet, a motif frequently found in late 19th-century decorative arts. The surface features an aged golden-bronze tone with a gently matte finish; natural patina and deeper accents in the recessed details result from oxidation over time. Organic, flowing lines, engraved floral and scrollwork, and a striking crest reminiscent of an animal or mythical creature’s head define the visual language of this piece. Every element is seamlessly integrated, including the movable visor, with no visible modern fasteners. Measuring 16 cm in height, 10 cm in width, and 11 cm in depth, this inkwell is preserved in very good condition: only faint surface wear and a subtle patina are present, with no cracks, restoration, or loss to the original structure; all components appear authentic and of their era.
