The 'Murzynek' porcelain figurine was designed by Hanna Orthwein for the Ćmielów Porcelain Factory in 1957, representing the spirit of Polish modernism of the 1950s. The piece depicts a stylized kneeling human figure, rendered in a highly simplified, modernist form typical of the postwar era. Made from glazed porcelain, it features a deep, mirror-like black on most of the surface, while the base and lower part gradually shift into a soft, gradient grey. Subtle white matte accents highlight the facial details and textured hair. The object is cast in one seamless piece, its proportions carefully balanced and the lines smooth and flowing.
