The original film poster 'Save the City' from the 1970s, designed by Jakub Erol, exemplifies the ethos of the Polish School of Poster Art from that decade, when film posters employed minimalist forms and deliberate symbolism. The 70 × 100 cm format was printed in offset or lithographic technique on smooth, fully matte poster-grade paper. The work is dominated by deep black, contrasting with stark white that defines the geometric lines, typography, and the central silhouette of a church – into which a skull is inscribed using negative space. Irregular splatters of white in the corners and the essential, sans-serif vertical typography add to the stark and conceptual character. The poster is in very good condition; the surface is clean, edges and corners are intact, and there are no creases or signs of use. This striking black-and-white composition gives voice to the 1970s – a period when Polish designers used poster art as a medium for collective memory and symbolic narrative. The city’s silhouette, morphing into a skull, speaks of the fragility of culture and the inevitability of change. Each line, paint splatter, and economical typographic gesture becomes a record of a time marked by unrest and a search for pared-down, pictographic visual language – a city perishing before the viewer’s eyes, physically and in memory. The poster is best displayed in
