ABOUT PRODUCTID 20092
This glass fish sculpture, designed in the 1960s by Josef Rozinek and Stanislav Honzik, was hand-formed from crystal glass at the Exbor glassworks in Nový Bor, Czechoslovakia. The piece measures 10 cm in height, 18 cm in length, and 3 cm in width. Its elongated, stylized form features a prominent high dorsal fin and a slender, pointed tail—hallmarks of mid-century modern design. The layered glass displays a fluid ombré: vivid green on the dorsal fin gradually fades into clear blue and then soft yellow and amber around the tail and lower body. The surface is highly polished and glossy, while subtle engraved lines on the fin and body suggest the texture of fish scales without disrupting the minimalist silhouette. The sculpture shows no visible seams, and its flat, transparent base provides display stability. Condition is very good, with no chips, cracks, or visible signs of wear. This compact object carries the spirit of the 1960s, when Czech glassworks embraced bold color and formal experimentation in everyday art. The sculpture evokes a wave frozen in motion: as light passes through the green and blue ombré, the surface shimmers like a lake’s surface. Streamlined proportions and delicate engravings speak of a fascination with modernity and organic forms—a fragment of an era when applied art sought harmony between function and the poetry of material. The sculpture can be displayed on a light wood console or shelf to allow natural light to accentuate the glass’s color transitions.
