This glass angelfish sculpture, designed by Vally Wieselthier for the Curt Schlevogt glassworks in Czechoslovakia in 1936/37, is a refined example of Art Deco decorative art. The body of the fish is crafted from alexandrite glass, which subtly shifts its color from greenish to violet depending on the lighting conditions, presenting a cool, lavender hue with a semi-matte finish in neutral light. The surface is partly ground and acid-etched, allowing soft light to accentuate the modeling of scales, fins, and the low-relief details of the eye and gills. The sculpture is mounted on a rectangular oak base, stained a medium brown with a satin sheen that highlights the wood grain. The whole composition is marked by clean lines, stylized geometry, and the harmonious proportions characteristic of Art Deco. The condition is very good: the glass
