ABOUT PRODUCTID 42107
This floor lamp, designed by Jindrich Halabala and produced by UP Závody in the 1930s, is a refined example of functionalism with art deco influences. Its structure is anchored by a warm, walnut wooden base, complemented by a matching circular shelf with a smooth, semi-matte surface that highlights the natural wood grain. The main feature is a single polished chrome steel rod, elegantly curved at the top to support a conical, cream-colored textile lampshade. The lower edge of the shade is gently wavy and decorated with two rows of small, circular perforations. The palette is dominated by walnut, cool chrome and neutral cream textile, creating a balanced and inviting impression. A contemporary cable and discreet foot switch accentuate its user-friendly character. The lamp is preserved in excellent, fully restored condition, with no visible wear, damage or patina. The form of this lamp echoes the voice of 1930s modernism: a meeting of functional construction and the decorative language of early art deco. The walnut base and chrome stem establish a harmonious stage for the shade, whose perforations diffuse the light into a soft, atmospheric glow. This piece brings into the interior a sense of balance between practicality and understated ornament—a subtle narrative of modernist European salons, where lighting aimed to be both useful and mood-defining.Positioned beside an armchair or sofa in the living room, the lamp’s shelf can function as a convenient place for a book or cup. It pairs well with walnut furniture, chrome accents, and textiles in muted hues, resulting in a composed arrangement in
