This Polish floor lamp, designed by Apolinary Gałecki in the 1960s-70s for Stołeczne Zakłady Metalowe in Warsaw, exemplifies the modernist aesthetics of its era. The structure is crafted from lacquered and nickel-plated metal in a cool, silvery tone, contrasting with a spherical opaline white glass shade. The tripod base, made of slender metal tubes ending in rounded feet, ensures both stability and a sense of visual lightness. The metal surface is smooth and mirror-like, while the lamp’s proportions – adjustable height from 125 to 170 cm, shade diameter 25 cm, base width 53 cm – emphasize its functional, geometric character. The lamp is preserved in very good condition, with no visible signs of heavy use; the glass shade is a later replacement but remains in line with the original design. This lamp speaks in the voice of postwar modernism: restraint in form, trust in metal and glass, and a focus on function.
