This ceiling lamp or flush mount, designed by Helena Tynell for Limburg, exemplifies German Space Age design from the 1960s and 1970s. The distinctive shade is crafted from thick, hand-formed transparent glass with a cool undertone. Its surface is adorned with a regular arrangement of convex 'bubbles', creating a three-dimensional effect and emphasizing the geometric discipline of the piece. The glossy glass finish enhances the interplay of light and reflections, while the plain, dark mounting base acts as a discrete counterpoint to the transparent dome. The craftsmanship is precise, with no visible hardware or joints, allowing the purity of the glass form to take center stage.
