ABOUT PRODUCTID 37947
This folding lounge chair, designed by Olof 'Olle' Pira and produced by the Swedish brand Swedese in the 1960s/70s, exemplifies innovative Scandinavian functionalism. The structure is based on a black lacquered steel frame with a semi-gloss finish, while the solid teak armrests — in a rich, medium-brown tone with visible natural grain — introduce a tactile, organic element to the composition. The seat and backrest are supported by a visible cable tensioning system, and the upholstery features a warm beige tone adorned with a dynamic, abstract black pattern reminiscent of mid-century modern textile art. The elongated proportions — with a high, slightly curved backrest and a deep, low seat — emphasize the chair’s relaxing and lounge-oriented character. The overall form is lightweight, foldable, and easy to move, with all components retaining their original appearance. The chair is preserved in very good vintage condition, with only minor abrasions on the upholstery and a gentle patina on the teak armrests, reflecting age-appropriate wear. The chair’s form tells the story of Swedish modernism — an era defined by the union of function, innovation, and the warm tactility of natural materials. It speaks in the language of the 1960s: the graphic textile alludes to the optimism of the postwar period, while the teak’s warmth balances the steel frame’s cool precision. The elongated back and deep seat seem to invite a moment of pause
