ABOUT PRODUCTID 30748
This four-piece furniture set, designed by František Mezulaník for UP Bucovice in 1960s Czechoslovakia, is an expressive example of Central European modernism. The set comprises a bookcase/display cabinet, a long low sideboard, a linen cabinet, and a blanket chest. The design features a harmonious interplay of honey-toned oak veneer on the main bodies and door fronts with deeper walnut hues on the drawer sections and slender, splayed legs. The semi-gloss finish subtly enhances the natural wood grain, allowing light to gently glide across the smooth surfaces. Integrated handles—horizontal on the drawers, vertical on the doors—reinforce the clean, geometric lines and unified visual language of the ensemble. The construction is solid, drawers operate smoothly, and the overall proportions lend the set an airy lightness characteristic of the era. The set is preserved in very good condition, with only minor signs of use typical for original vintage furniture from the 1960s, and shows no evidence of modifications or repairs. The set carries the spirit of postwar Central Europe, where craftsmanship met optimism and belief in the future, and wood was treated as both a practical material and a vehicle for refined simplicity. Each piece tells the story of an era that valued the harmony of function and form. The honey and walnut veneer tones evoke the mood of a tranquil, sunlit afternoon, with light revealing subtle variations in the grain and hand-finished details inviting
