ABOUT PRODUCTID 30208
This freestanding desk, designed by Torben Valeur and Henning Jensen for the Danish manufacturer Dyrlund in the 1960s, is a quintessential example of Scandinavian modernism in the mid-century spirit. Crafted from teak wood in a warm honey-brown shade with a subtle golden undertone, it features a clearly visible wood grain and organic texture, accented by a semi-matte lacquer finish. The construction rests on two sled-style legs, lending the piece a sense of lightness and emphasizing the geometric clarity of its form. On the left, there are three drawers with discreet, recessed wooden handles; on the right, a deep file drawer with a matching minimalist handle. The front boasts an open bookshelf. The desk’s proportions are balanced, with a wide work surface and a central knee space for comfort. The condition is excellent—after a thorough restoration, the desk shows no visible damage or signs of wear. The restoration preserved the authenticity of both materials and design: the surface was cleaned, stained in an oak-like tone, and finished with a durable semi-matte lacquer. This desk echoes the story of Danish modernism from the 1960s—a time when functionality and material quality were as important as aesthetics. Its restrained form expresses the era’s belief in the power of simplicity and harmony. The teak surfaces
