This early 20th-century fruit basket, originating from the Austro-Hungarian Empire, is crafted from brass with a silver-plated finish, emblematic of the region’s Art Nouveau (Secessionist) sensibility. The softly undulating rim transitions into an irregular contour, where the warm undertones of aged brass peek through a once-bright silver veneer, a consequence of natural patination. The elegantly arched handle, composed of three slender rods joined by spherical mounts, connects gracefully to the basket’s form.
