ABOUT PRODUCTID 2338
This Art Nouveau fruit bowl, created in Germany between 1900 and 1920, exemplifies the refined craftsmanship of the era. The body is made from bleached brass in a cool, silvery-white shade with a subtle matte finish. An openwork gallery encircles the hand-painted ceramic insert, which features irises in shades of purple, yellow, and green, rendered with naturalistic brushwork and a glossy surface. The elliptical bowl stands on four spherical feet and is fitted with two curved handles. The set includes six fruit knives – each with a bronze blade, nearly black ebony handle, and a small brass finial. The knives slot into dedicated holders attached to each handle. The overall condition is very good: the metal displays a uniform patina, the ceramic shows no chips or cracks, and the painting remains crisp and vibrant. This piece resonates with the spirit of Art Nouveau: fluid, organic motifs and dynamic iris
