ABOUT PRODUCTID 23859
This amethyst glass goblet was crafted in the 1920s by the renowned Moser glassworks in Karlovy Vary, Bohemia, embodying the refined artistry of the Art Deco era. The deep, cool-toned purple glass is meticulously pane-cut with vertical facets that catch and refract light, highlighting the material's rich color. Encircling the upper bowl is a wide, gilded frieze, adorned with an oroplastic relief of grapevine motifs—matte and polished gold surfaces are artistically patinated to emphasize detail and give an antique touch. The slender stem, with a rounded knop, flows into a broad, stable foot, reflecting proportions typical of interwar design. The piece is signed and presents no chips, cracks, or signs of wear. Condition: very good, with no damage. The goblet echoes the spirit of the modernist 1920s: amethyst glass and gilding conjure the atmosphere of opulent salons, where new ideas met the elegance of fine craftsmanship. The relief grapevines around the bowl recall the era’s fascination with nature and decorative detail, characteristic of early Art Deco. Each faceted plane of glass captures the light, as if the goblet narrates a time when even everyday objects aspired to be small works of art.The goblet can be displayed on a credenza or in a glass cabinet, alongside other period glassware—goblets, decanters, or compotes in similar tones. It would work beautifully in curated collector’s interiors: in classic Art Deco spaces or more eclectic rooms, where historic glass provides a striking counterpoint to modern forms. It is best paired with warm lighting and accents in brass or wood to draw out the patinated gilding and the depth of the amethyst glass.Height
