ABOUT PRODUCTID 38614
This tall goblet from the Biedermeier period, crafted in Austria circa 1830–1840, exemplifies the fine glassmaking of its era. Made from layered crystal glass in a milky white shade with a subtle warmth, it is richly adorned with gilded accents. The bowl transitions smoothly into a slender, elaborately decorated stem and a wide, stable base. Intricate deep-cut engravings and relief patterns, inspired by Gothic ornamentation—spirals, stylised floral elements and geometric borders—define its unique character. The glossy surface enhances the luxurious quality of the glass, while seamless connections between the bowl, stem and base create a harmonious whole. The goblet measures approximately 29 cm in height, with a base width of 11.5 cm and a bowl width of about 10 cm; its weight is 716 g. Condition is excellent, with no visible chips or cracks and only minor wear to the gilding, typical for pieces of this age, leaving the original decoration intact. This form resonates with the spirit of 19th-century drawing rooms, where the Biedermeier ideal of understated beauty met neoclassical elegance and a fascination with Gothic detail. The goblet, like a prop from a historical scene, tells the story of elevating everyday rituals—adorning tables during special gatherings, serving as both a functional vessel and a symbol of status. The smooth crystal surface contrasts with raised ornamental motifs, while the gilding catches the light like the last afternoon sun slipping through the heavy curtains of a Viennese townhouse. The goblet could be displayed on a classic walnut console or a Biedermeier-style
