The Azilal rug, measuring 100 x 200 cm, is traditionally handwoven in Ouadzem from natural wool and cotton. Its matte ivory-white base is structured with geometric golden ochre motifs: a central double diamond filled with smaller shapes and regularly spaced golden dots, arranged in a clear, minimalist pattern. A soft, plush texture in the raised motifs contrasts with the flat weave of the background, while hand-tied fringes finish both ends. The proportions are elongated, and visible irregularities in the weave and fringe emphasize its artisanal authenticity. The rug’s design draws on the visual language of Berber artistry: geometric precision, a restrained color palette, and a clear rhythmic structure establish a sense of order and calm. Handcrafting and natural materials give each rug an individual character—subtle shifts in line and small imperfections recall the maker’s hand. The minimalist ornamentation lends universal appeal, while the wool’s softness encourages tactile interaction. The rug works well as an accent in an entryway, alongside a sofa in the living room, or at the foot of a bed.
