This handwoven Berber rug from Morocco, measuring 140 x 260 cm, is crafted from pure wool in the Midelt region of the Atlas Mountains. The composition features an ivory background, contrasted by two distinct color blocks: the upper section in cool green outlined with a white arch, and the lower section in deep black, defined by a crisp geometric white line. The dense, plush pile with its matte finish enhances the natural, slightly coarse wool texture, while straight edges and hand-tied fringes in matching yarn underscore the respect for traditional craft. The construction is robust, and the weave reveals subtle irregularities characteristic of artisanal techniques. The rug’s pattern evokes an encounter between tradition and modern graphic language.
