This handwoven rug from the Midelt region of Morocco (140 x 260 cm) is crafted from natural, thick wool in an elongated rectangular format. The matte surface, with its soft, plush pile, is adorned with a bold geometric design inspired by Berber motifs: on an ivory background, blocks of turquoise, olive, coral, and amber intersect in vertical and horizontal bands. The composition references both mid-century abstract painting and the region's artisanal weaving traditions. Short, hand-tied fringes finish the narrow edges, while subtle irregularities along the borders highlight the authenticity of its handmade construction. The rug evokes a narrative where tradition meets modernism—visible in the geometry of the pattern and the irregular edges. Each knot reveals the presence of the maker’s hand, and the palette—from tranquil ivory to deep turquoise and vivid coral—creates a visual rhythm that gently enlivens the senses.
