This handmade Berber rug, measuring 150 x 250 cm, is woven from thick, soft wool that gives it substantial volume and a tactile, inviting texture. The base in a warm, creamy ivory serves as a backdrop for geometric accents in muted terracotta and powder blue, gently blending with the natural white of the pile. The composition is asymmetrical, with the coloured forms and lines concentrated in one corner, creating a contemporary, abstract visual language. The matte, slightly irregular surface highlights the artisanal origin, while decorative braided borders in terracotta and ivory and hand-knotted fringes complete the details. The rug is crafted in Morocco's Ouadzem region using traditional techniques, entirely by hand. The rug’s form suggests a balance between heritage and modern interpretation. The interplay of soft colour transitions and distinct geometry evokes a sense of freedom within structure, where threads of craft meet graphic discipline. Each detail, from the irregular texture to the asymmetrical motif, communicates authenticity and individuality – as if a fragment of Berber tradition is woven into wool and pigment.
