This handmade Beni Ouraine rug, measuring 150 × 250 cm, is crafted from natural wool using traditional weaving techniques from Morocco’s Atlas region. The construction is defined by a dense, even weave with a matte, soft woollen texture. The dominant hue is a saturated ochre orange, complemented by deep aubergine-black vertical blocks running through the centre. Short creamy stripes appear along the edges and ends, providing graphic balance. One end is finished with a hand-knotted natural wool fringe, highlighting the artisanal nature of the work. The composition is marked by geometric abstraction inspired by Berber motifs, with organic, irregular edges to the patterns. The rug’s design conveys a sense of graphic dynamism, where rhythmic, irregular blocks evoke ancient ground markings. The warm palette recalls sun-baked clay and mineral pigments, while contrasting stripes introduce a calm pause.
