This handwoven rug, sized 150 x 260 cm, is crafted from pure wool using traditional techniques from the Midelt region in the Moroccan Atlas. The composition features distinct color blocks: an earthy taupe-brown background, a wide band of deep cobalt blue at the top, a central irregular polygon in terracotta red outlined with a vivid turquoise line, complemented by accents of off-white, cream, beige, and grey. Short, natural fringes finish the edges. The dense, even weave and subtle, natural irregularities highlight its artisanal origin, while the matte, slightly coarse yet soft texture confirms the quality of the wool. The form and proportions echo modernism and abstract Berber art, aligning with a mid-century modern aesthetic. The rug’s design is a conversation between heritage and modernity—geometric motifs and contrasting colors evoke the landscapes of the Moroccan mountains, while the irregular composition reflects the artisan’s hand.
